I wanted you to know, how delighted I've been,
Since you fitted me up, with my wonderful sling!
Outside it's been pouring, the wettest for years,
But inside it's dry, there's been nothing but cheers!
Coz it is really life changing, in so many ways,
If I got the big urge, I could join a keep fit craze,
It seems really weird, to walk past a loo
And think to myself, I've got nothing to do,
Spare knickers and pads, are a thing of the past,
As I walk everywhere now, often quite fast,
You are miracle workers, it has to be said,
Your advice so superb, to clear it up in my head,
Then off you all went, with your magical tape,
It's wonderful stuff, for a new life it makes,
So 1 year on, I am thinking of you,
which is very much better, than 'where is the loo!'
I hope you don't mind, that I put it to verse,
But a very big thank you, for ending my curse.
So when people say, 2012 boy that wet caused some tears,
I will smile to myself, as it's been my driest in years!!!
A very big thank you ever so much for all your wonderful care, kindness and support for me last week during my TURP.
I am so greatful and appreciative of all. Thank you.
I had a consultation with Mr Woodhams today & he asked if I might make some observations about my treatment:
I'm a 59 year old man who had several issues as a result of an enlarged prostate. These were poor urine flow, long visits to the loo, incomplete emptying of the bladder, urgency, need to go again shortly after previous 'visit'. After thorough and exhaustive tests, Green Light Laser treatment was prescribed.
I had the treatment 2 weeks ago. I had 1 overnight in hospital & the catheter was removed the next day. I have had no pain except for when the catheter was withdrawn. I had a small amount of blood appearing in my urine for about 2 days. All my previous symptoms have been vastly improved. A toilet visit that previously took 2 1/2 minutes now takes literally 20 seconds. Bladder emptying is now complete rather than the 50-100ml of residual urine previously present. I still have an element of urgency occasionally but am hopeful that even this will improve with time. I cannot think of any adverse effects that I have had since the surgery.
My only regret is that I did not have the condition attended to several years ago when the symptoms first started to appear.
Grateful thanks to all members of the team who participated in my treatment and after-care.
Dear Mr Hicks,
We would like to thank you for you skill and dedication while John was in your care over the last few weeks. You and your team have made a huge difference and we now feel we can move on from the very difficult last 6 months. Life is much improved and we are venturing out and about with increasing confidence.
Mr and Mrs H
I wanted to write to express my sincere thanks for your care an support over the last few weeks.
As I am sure you appreciate the last few weeks have been very stressful for me and my family. The clarity of your explanations of my options, and associated implications, were a greet help, as was your patience and clear answers to my sometimes blunt questions.
I continue to be amazed that just a couple of weeks after major surgery the only real negative experience I have is a lack of stamina, with none of the ricks of surgery manifesting themselves. I suspect this is very largely down to the skill exercised by yourself.
Could you also thank Sue Parham for me. It was a great help knowing that if I had a concern or if anything needed to be done, I could call Sue and know that any problem would be sorted out.
Here's hoping that my recovery keeps progressing as well as it has done so far!
I am 62 years old and recently had Green Light Surgery treatment for an enlarged prostate. For a number of years I had problems passing urine. Having exhausted the use of medication and after researching the options available, I discussed my choice of Green Light Surgery with Mr Woodhams.
I was given a complete breakdown of the process and had the opportunity to ask questions. This gave me complete confidence about the treatment. After a comfortable overnight stay in hospital following the operation, I was able to pass urine normally and with very little discomfort. After 4 weeks my life had returned to normal.
I cannot stress enough the improvement this has made to my life and would recommend this treatment to anyone who has the same condition that I had.
I needed to arrange a consultation and telephoned Tina Hutton to arrange this. I would like to put on record that I found "Tina" extremely helpful, patient and understanding and I am very grateful for the information and help she shared with me. Thank you very much indeed.
Dear Mr Hicks
I would just like to say a very big thank you to you for looking after me during the last week. I found you to be very easy to talk to, very professional and very reassuring. I feel extremely lucky to have been given the all clear. As you know I came to the hospital with a potential kidney problem and from the moment I sat down and was asked in detail about what was happening I felt confident that I was in the right hands. It is an extremely worrying time when you think you may have something potentially life threatening and it was very refreshing for me to see a consultant who was kind, understanding and patient.
I am a 64 year old woman who underwent a TOT procedure, carried out by Mrs Suzie Venn, in April 2012.
I am probably atypical of most patients in the amount of information I require before deciding to go ahead with surgery and found the leaflet explaining the procedure to be too limited and searched the internet for more comprehensive information. Mrs Venn was on holiday during the week I wished to ask specific questions and the date of my TOT was booked for 2 days after her return. Despite my sense of having inadequate knowledge about the procedure, Mrs Venn answered my questions immediately prior to her performing the TOT.
Living with stress incontinence is a misery, a constant problem marring journeys, days out, horse riding, playing with grandchildren, etc., etc. – in fact, it has a negative effect on everything. But now, 3 months after having had the TOT, I am delighted to report that my stress incontinence has been completely cured. I am now able to cough, laugh, sneeze, jump, etc., without any risk at all – never once have I had even the smallest leak - I no longer need to use pads, nor worry about where the nearest loo is. There is the odd occasion when I still experience urgency but nothing like on the scale I used to – which was 100% of the time. My quality of life is fantastically improved in so many unforeseen ways; being energetic and physically active by nature it becomes more and more apparent, as time has passed since my TOT, just how much stress incontinence once limited my recreational and working activities.
I should like to express my sincere thanks to Mrs Venn for her surgical skill – and I would urge any lady who suffers from stress incontinence to see Mrs Venn, whom I recommend wholeheartedly!
